Quartz watches can run for 18 to 24 months on a single battery, depending on the movement. When the battery dies, the watch typically stops—often with the seconds hand jumping in 4-second intervals as a low-battery warning. Replacing the battery seems straightforward, but a professional service offers several important benefits.

First, we inspect the movement before fitting a new battery. Moisture or corrosion inside the case can damage the movement; a new battery will not fix such issues and may worsen them. We check for signs of water ingress and advise if further servicing is needed.

We always replace the case-back gasket when replacing a battery. This small rubber seal ensures the watch remains water-resistant. Over time gaskets can become brittle or compressed; reusing an old gasket risks water damage. A new gasket is inexpensive and essential for maintaining your watch's protection.

We use high-quality batteries from trusted manufacturers. Cheap batteries can leak or fail prematurely, potentially damaging the movement. We stock the correct cells for most quartz watch brands and sizes.

Some watches require special handling. Chronographs with reset pushers, for example, must be reset correctly when the battery is replaced. We have the tools and knowledge to service these correctly.
